All Saints

Today is All Saints Day and candles have been lit in memory of loved ones who have passed away. The cemeteries are illuminated with flickering light as hundreds of small candles and oil lamps are left on tombs and graves. The above was taken in the the Powązki Military Cemetery in Warsaw where many of those that fought for Poland in past conflicts are buried. Simple silver birch crosses line the avenues which glow with the candlelight once darkness falls.

Welcome to Warsaw Daily Photo!

I'm a Brit in Warsaw and this is a daily photo blog of my life (currently) in and around the city and in Eastern Europe generally. The challenge is to post a picture a day of something interesting in Europe which I find when I'm out and about (occasionally dipping into my archives) and say a few words about it. Hope you like it and feel free to leave a comment!
